Obituary of Donald Lawrence Freed
Donald Lawrence Freed, beloved husband of Grace Freed of eighteen years of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2006 at the age of 88 years.
Donald was born September 12, 1917 in Orion, AB, the youngest of four children born to Mary and Abner Freed. He spent his entire youth in Glassford. He married Mary Zowtiak in 1945, who predeceased him in 1984. Donald started buying grain for the Alberta Wheat Pool in 1949 in Orion and enjoyed his career until his retirement in 1983. He was the first Manager-Curator of the Grain Academy.
Besides his wife Grace of eighteen years, Don is survived by his family Judy and Allan Hunt of Lethbridge, AB; Donna and Robert Siddall of Calgary, AB; Perry Freed of Airdrie, AB; Monica and Doug Milot of Two Hills, AB; Sheila and Greg Sammons of Newport, OR; Grace’s daughters Patti Durand of St. John, NB, and Linda and Roger Smith of Calgary, AB; as well as fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
