Obituary of Mary Gordon Campbell

Mary Campbell, beloved wife of Alan Campbell of Calgary, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Mary was born in Big Valley, AB and grew up on her family farm near Rowley. She attended Mount Royal College in Calgary, the University of Alberta and Normal School in Edmonton. While teaching in Drumheller she met Alan and they were married in Yorkton, SK in 1944. When the war ended, they went to Edmonton where she worked at the Correspondence School while Alan studied Engineering at the University of Alberta. While working in the oil patch they lived in Calgary, Swift Current, Peace River and Dawson Creek, returning to Calgary in 1966. In Calgary, Mary enjoyed golfing and bridge at the Earl Grey where she had a large circle of friends. She was also a member of Gyrettes. Mary is survived by her devoted and loving husband Alan; sons, Gordon (Wendy) and Lee; and grandchildren, Henry and Madeline and Wendy’s daughter Katrina. She is also survived by her two brothers, Tom (Margaret) and Fred (Marilyn) and their children. A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Scarboro United Church, 134 Scarboro Avenue S.W. on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
