Obituary of Esther Lydia Miller

Esther Lydia Domet-Miller beloved mother of Veronica, Yasmin, Karl (Adele Groves), Una (David Taylor), and Divinea (Stuart Robinson), and Susan Glover. Loving sister to Ernst Domet and wife Anne-Marie and Lilli Dziubaniuk and husband Jim. Dear Grandmother (Omi) to seven beautiful girls, Brennah (Rapunzel), Haidee (Mutzel-Putzel), Zhivan (Hummelchen), and Demara (Engelchen) Robinson, and Narissa (Zucke-Pupchen), Madisyn (Marzipan) and Keona (Mushie) Taylor. Proud Auntie to four nieces, one nephew and their dear children. Esther passed away with grace and dignity in the early morning of Sunday, January 22, 2006 at the youthful age of 77, after “quite the ordeal” with cancer at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, with her family at her bedside. Esther was born in Berlin, Germany, married Alfred Miller of Wales, UK (passed away January 1996) in Haifa, Israel, and immigrated to Canada in 1956. Esther lived for many years in St. Lambert, Quebec, where she had many good friends and was closely involved with St. Barnabas Anglican Church. In 2003, Esther moved to Calgary to be closer to several of her children. Esther quickly made many dear friends, and was warmly welcomed by St. James Anglican Church where she was thrilled to find Rev. Tony Grainger, who she had previously known in Quebec. Always an animal lover, Esther saved many cats from life on the street. Esther loved music, particularly singing, giving readings at church, engaging in lively discussions, and most of all a good cup of coffee! Esther was a unique woman who will be remembered best for her strength, theatrical style, independent thinking, warm personality, heartfelt hugs, gift with words, radiant smile, infectious laugh, prayers for others, and incomparable charm, charisma, and beauty. She will be greatly missed by numerous friends and family. Special thanks to the palliative care nurses at Foothills Hospital, particularly Crystal, Cathy, Cher and Stephanie, and to home care nurses Renata and Carol. God Bless You and Angels Protect You! Your ever-loving family.
