Obituary of John William Inskeep
John William Inskeep, born on October 13, 1913 in Longsight, Manchester, England, passed away at age 92 on January 17, 2006 at the Chinook Hospice in Calgary, AB.
John worked in the Newspaper industry from age fourteen and was with several Manchester newspapers before and after the war years. He served in the British Army in WWII from 1940 to 1946. In 1952, John immigrated to Calgary where he worked for The Albertan and The Calgary Herald. He retired from the Calgary Herald in 1978. Despite suffering from macular degeneration and COPD, John took up acrylic painting after his wife Louisa (West) passed away in 1995. He enjoyed listening to books on tape from the CNIB and visiting with his family.
John is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Louise Cole (Allan); son Michael Corden Inskeep; and grandchildren Mary Louise Cole, (Gary Kurtz and his daughter Sarah and her husband Denny Duguay), Robert Allan Cole (Kim Stoodley), and Corden John Inskeep.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, January 23, 2006 at 11:00 A.M Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
