Obituary of Ida Horwitz

Ida Horwitz of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2006 at the age of 94 years. Ida and her husband Cecil were one of the original founders of the Beth Israel Synagogue. She was one of the first presidents of the B. I. Sisterhood and an active member of the Jewish Community. Ida was a very creative, insightful and energetic woman, who never sat idle. Many admired her artistic needlepoint works. Ida had an amazing spirit and was a kind, caring person that loved her family and friends. Ida is survived by her brother Hymie (Celia) Baltzan; her sons and daughters in-law, Joel and Siona and Marvin and Linda; as well as special family members Elliott and Minnie Zuckier, and David Burger; grandchildren Howard (Aviva), Carolyn (Geoff), Alissia (Michael), Cecil (Erin), and Danielle (Jason); and five great-grandchildren. Ida was predeceased by her husband Cecil; daughter Frances; and sister Katie (Jack) Saslow. Graveside Service will be held at the Jewish Cemetery (30th Ave. & Erlton Street S.W.) today, January 15, 2006 at 1:00 P.M.
