Obituary of Thomas Young

Thomas Young of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2006 shortly after celebrating his 92nd birthday. Tom was born on January 3rd, 1914 at his home in Corndorrat, Scotland. He immigrated to Canada at the start of the Great Depression. After a distinguished career with the Bank of Nova Scotia, interrupted by four years in the RCN on corvette duty during WWII, he retired in Calgary on January 1, 1969. He will be remembered by family and friends as an avid outdoorsman, a respected businessman and most of all, a man who valued family. Tom is survived by his son Thomas (Sandra); his granddaughter Penny (John); and the apple of his eye, Sam, his great-grandson. His loving wife Margaret passed away in 2001 and was sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
