Obituary of Lena Johnston

Lena Johnston of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2006 at the age of 91 years, after a full and interesting life. Lena was born in Calgary on May 9, 1914, and lived in Calgary all her life except for a couple of years in Vancouver during the war. She was employed for a total of forty-seven years in office work. She worked five years with Traders Finance Corporation until they no longer made cars during the war and then she was employed with various firms until starting with C.P. Rail in Calgary in 1952 at the Alberta Head Office in the old sandstone station and then transferred to other locations with C.P.R., retiring from C.P. Ogden Shops’ Locomotive Shop in 1978. She then travelled extensively and happily. She worked in many volunteer organizations starting at the Children’s Hospital in 1930 and then in many others including Confederation Park Seniors. She leaves her nephew Terry Johnston and his sister Louise, as well as many dear friends in Calgary and British Columbia. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
