Obituary of Jacob Genert
Jack Genert, beloved husband of Margaret Genert of Red Deer Lake, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005 at the age of 84 years.
Jack was born on the family farm at Walsh, AB, on September 28, 1921. He was working for the local ranchers by the time he was fifteen years old and in 1941 he went to work in the Oil and Coal fields of Brooks and Bow City. It was during this time that he met Margaret Bozo of Tilley and in 1943 they were married. In 1950 Jack and Margaret moved to Red Deer Lake District, south west of Calgary. It was here that Jack farmed and raised his family, and faced the biggest challenges and joys of his long life. His greatest pleasure in life was his family and friends and he particularly liked to drive around the province visiting them. In turn when they visited his home these same people were received with pleasure, kindness, and generosity.
Besides his loving wife Margaret, Jack is survived by his children and their spouses, Stan and Cheryl of Delburne, AB, Dave and Lori of Abee, AB, Bill and Jan of Regina, SK, and Caroline and Paul of Calgary, AB; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Of his thirteen siblings he is survived by his sisters, Esther (Len) Lazzari of Sylvan Lake, Jean Myers of Redcliff, Racheal Bigelow of Cranbrook, BC; as well as his brother Allen (Lolly) Genert of Medicine Hat.
