Obituary of den Hartog
It is with unbounded sadness that the family of Marcella den Hartog announce her passing on Monday, December 26, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 49 years.
Born in Racice, Slovenia, Marcella came to Calgary with her parents in 1959. She grew up in the Bridgeland and Huntington Hills areas and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1974. She worked in the oil patch for fifteen years and then pursued a career as a Legal Assistant, graduating from SAIT in 1992. Her career was cut short due to the effects of her illness and for the rest of her days, she devoted herself to her home and family.
Marcella was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend and will always be remembered for her energy, feistiness, caring nature and just being Marcella. The strength and courage she displayed in life and in fighting her illness is an inspiration to all. She is our hero and we will miss her tremendously. Marcella is survived by her husband Brad; three children, Juliana, Daniel and Ashley; grandson Luke; parents Marcello and Gloria Hrvatin; and brother Rik Hrvatin.
