Obituary of Norman Grant

Norman Grant devoted husband and father passed away on Friday, December 16, 2005 at the age of 88 years. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Norman immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of three. He lived in London, ON until joining the RCAF in 1939. He served overseas Fin the 420 Squadron as a Navigator. In 1944 he married Margaret Ridley. Over the next twenty years Norm’s career in the Air Force took them to many different locales in North America including Summerside, P.E.I, Ottawa, and Goose Bay, Labrador. His last two postings were to the Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama and to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Retiring from the RCAF at the age of forty-nine, Norm and family settled in Brampton, ON where he undertook a second career with Canada Manpower. In 1990 Norman and Margaret relocated to Calgary to join their only child Lorraine. Gardening and travel were lifelong pleasures for Norman. Sadly in 2002 he lost his wife Margaret of fifty-eight years. Norman is survived by his daughter Lorraine; sister Mae Blanchard; numerous nieces, nephews and their children. Thanks to Dr. C. Dixon and the staff of Units 46 and 59 of the Rockyview Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (903 – 75th Avenue S.W.) on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Grant Rodgers, Presider.
