Obituary of Harry McCutcheon
Surrounded by family and friends, Harry passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at the Rockyview Hospital and with great dignity after a brief but valiant struggle with cancer.
Harry was born and raised in Calgary where he lived most of his life. He joined the Canadian Army in 1947 and was stationed in Saskatchewan. He earned his Bachelor of Education in 1980, majoring in French, and went on to teach in the Public School System until his retirement in 1992. Harry was a fierce Canadian and truly proud of his country and left a legacy in the form of a book regarding a piece of Alberta’s history. He was kind, humorous and gentle by nature, with a warm heart and a generous hand matched only by his unshakeable respect for equality, justice, tolerance and understanding which he practiced well. His love of family was his prerequisite to all endeavours. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his children, Barbara, Tom, Cathy, Nancy and their mother Bertha; his grandchildren, Chris, Paul, Shawn, Sara, Quincy; his great-grandson Jack; and his very special friend Ellen Hansel. Harry will also be greatly missed by his sisters Agnes, Lillian, Vivian, Bernice, and Barbara; his brothers Bill and Phillip; as well as numerous relatives and many, many friends.
