Obituary of Connie Johnson

Constance (Connie) Johnson of Calgary passed away on Monday, November 28, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Connie was born in Hawkhurst, Kent, England. She was raised and educated in Eastbourne, Sussex. Connie served in Civil Defence during WWII at the time of the Blitz where she met her husband Robert who served with the Calgary Highlanders. After the war she moved to Calgary as a war bride and resided here since. Connie found great joy in being with her family and providing a welcoming home. She was very involved in the Church of the Good Shepherd as well as being part of the church’s history project at the time of her death. Connie will be remembered for her unique sense of humour and as a great storyteller, writer and historian. Connie is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law, Laurence and Lorraine, of Calgary, William “Bill” and Kerri, of Cold Lake, AB, and Neville of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Michael, Carolyn, Stephen, Kathryn (Darryl), Paul, Chris (Aimee), and Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Gregory, Richard and Denise. She is also survived by one sister Doris Jarvis of England; and a sister-in-law Verna Lane of Calgary; and nieces and nephews. Connie was predeceased by her husband Robert; and siblings, Winn, Sid, and Joyce. Funeral Services will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd (408 – 38th Street S.W.) on Monday, December 5, 2005 at 1:00 p.m with the Rev. Helen Belcher, Presider.
