Obituary of Marjorie Culp

Marjorie Culp passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Marjorie was born on December 19, 1927 and raised in Calgary, where she was a graduate of the Calgary Normal School. She began her teaching in 1947 in Eastern Alberta in a one-room school on a salary of less than $100 a month. She taught in different places around Alberta, and she was teaching in Calgary when she married Vernon in 1957. She took time off to raise her family, and when the children were all in school, she went back to teaching for the Rockyview School Division. She retired in 1989, after forty years of teaching. Marjorie and Vernon loved to travel and shared wonderful memories of travelling through many foreign countries and cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. Marjorie is survived by her loving husband Vernon, and her family; three sons David, Brian (Annette) of Irricana, Marvin (Sharon) and one daughter Shannon (Fred) Punkert of Airdrie; seven grand-daughters Sheila, Candace, and Tiffany Punkert, Stephanie and Holly Culp, Ashton and Brette Culp; her brothers-in-law Ivan (Isabel) Culp and Rolf Gilberg. She was predeceased by her parents Maurice and Margaret Seymour, sister Shirley; brother and sister-in-law Evertt and Mary Culp, and her sister-in-law Vera Gilberg. The Celebration of Marjorie’s Life will be held at Irricana West United Church, (located on highway 567, twelve miles east of Airdrie or seven miles west of Irricana) on Friday, December 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses at the Bethany Care Centre (Airdrie) for their care and compassion of Marjorie during this past year.
