Obituary of De Paoli

Joseph Celeste De Paoli, beloved husband of Josephine, passed away at the age of 63 on November 26, 2005 in festive circumstances surrounded by family, friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his father Vittorio in 1967. Joe was born in San Lorenzo (Pordenone) Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1951. The family settled on a farm in Cayley, Alberta. Joe attended the University of Alberta where he graduated with his BA and LLB in 1965. He had a distinguished legal career at the law firm of Beaumont Church for 37 years. Throughout his life Joe enjoyed many sports including boxing and baseball. His passions later in life were golf and cross country skiing. Joe was an avid card player and enjoyed engaging in vigorous and animated philosophical debates. He was an active and proud member of the Fogolar Furlan and the Italian Community, and served as President of the Calgary Italian Club for many years. Besides his loving wife of thirty-five years, Josie; Joe is survived by two daughters Deanna and Cheryl (Calgary). He is also survived by his mother Ave Bertoia (Cayley); brother Dino (Cayley); brother Sergio, sister-in-law Sonia, nephew Michael and niece Andrea (Calgary); and sisters Linda and Bruna (High River). He will also be missed and fondly remembered by extended family and friends in “tutto il mondo”.
