Obituary of Gail Martha Parsons

It is with great sadness that the Big Plume family announces the loss of Gail Martha Parsons (nee Big Plume) who passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2005 at the age of 57 years. Gail was born in Morley, AB and lived all her life in Calgary and on the Tsuu T’ina Nation. She attended Westoe School and went on to complete her High School Diploma at the St. Mary’s Girls School. Gail went on to attend a commercial cooking program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1982 and worked for several years as a cook at the William Roper Hull Home, Crowfoot Sunrise and Calgary Remand Centre. Gail devoted her time to caring for her father for many years. Gail is survived by her loving companion of twenty-four years, Errol Dyler; her children Rose Parsons and Murray Parsons, Tony Harvey and Lindsay Big Plume; twelve grandchildren, Shyanne (Rick), Junior (Jodie), Josh (Priscilla), Crystal, Randy, Shea, Starr Laine, Terrance, Jeremy, Hanna, Deneha, Jay, Kaylee, Farrow, Colorado and Wayne; two great-grandchildren, Robert and Alyiah; nieces, Shannon (Aaron) Daniels, Paula (Jesse), Michelle Jacobs, Charmaine Heavyrunner and Nora (Mike) Big Plume, nephews, Daryl (Donna) and Jimmy (Betty) and the numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly; her sisters, Helen Meguinis, Faye Sewall (Jim), Joan Pascoe, Carol Gottfriedson and Connie Big Plume; her brother Benny (Darlene) Big Plume; sister-in-laws, Vera Big Plume, Angeline Dodginghorse, Barbara Dyler, Shirley Dyler and Janie Bella; and her brothers-in-law, Mike, Robert, Ronnie, Patrick and Donny Dyler. Gail is also survived by her adopted sisters, Marie McHugh, Regena Crowchild, Judy Sutherland and Audrey Pipestem. She was predeceased by her parents, Chief Dick Big Plume, mother Lucy Big Plume, brothers Jacko, Jeremy, Austin and Robert; nieces, Vivian Dodginghorse, Sally Big Plume and Nadine Johnson; nephews, Patch Nadeau, Jeremy Big Plume, her aunt Victoria McHugh, close friend Robbie Roberton, mother-in-law, Emma Dyler and her father-in-law Jim Dyler. “Gailie” will always be remembered for her generosity and as a person who was filled with love and kindness. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Wake Services will be held at Gail’s home (3945 Korea Avenue, Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB) on Monday, November 28, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Lady of the Peace Catholic Church (3700 Anderson Road S.W., Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB) on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
