Obituary of Van Maarion
Eugene (Gene) Van Maarion, beloved husband of Nora (Win) Van Maarion, of Calgary, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2005 at the age of 79 years.
Gene was born in Coaldale, AB and raised in Winnifred, AB. He worked for Black’s Hardware and Northwest Nitro Chemicals Ltd. in Medicine Hat. Gene and Win moved to Calgary in 1965 where he worked for Western Coop Fertilizer Limited until his retirement.
Besides his loving wife of fifty years, Gene is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Brenda Van Maarion, of Okotoks, AB and Sharon and Gordon Leigh, of High River, AB; five grandchildren, Heather, Tanis, and Melissa Neis, and Jennifer, and James Leigh. He is also survived by his sister Gladys Smith, of Taber, AB; and sister-in-law Jean Storrs of Medicine Hat, AB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his parents, Case and Violet Van Maarion; his brother Bill Van Maarion, and two sisters Dorothy Tunstall and Ruby Maxwell.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Graham S. Goode of St. Philip the Evangelist Anglican Church, Presider. A Graveside Service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Medicine Hat, AB on Monday, November 28, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
