Obituary of Anna Luchenko

Anna Luchenko of Calgary, passed away at her residence on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the age of 107 years. Anna was born in Buchachku, Kolomaya, Ukraine. She moved to Canada in 1932 to join her husband with their two oldest children. They farmed in the Eatonia area, SK, until 1969 when she moved into Kindersley, where she resided until July 2000 when she moved to Calgary to be closer with her daughters Helen and Sonia. Anna had been an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Ghost and the Church Ladies Auxiliary in Kindersley for many years. She was known by her neighbours as a generous person. She was good natured and kind, never a harsh word for anyone. Anna was proud of her Ukrainian heritage. Mrs. Luchenko was a hard working farm wife. Her passions were her children and gardening. Anna is survived by her son Peter Harasymchuk of Edmonton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary and Henry Lorriman of Georgetown, ON, Helen Harasymchuk, and Sonia and Jim McFalls all of Calgary. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Bill Lorriman, Sandra Garrard, Richard Harasymchuk, Linda Esak, Debbie Mastaler, and Beverley Whittaker; ten great-grandchildren and one greatgreat-grandson. She was predeceased by her daughter Nettie in 1975, first husband John Harasymchuk in 1969 and second husband Louie Luchenko in 1978. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, November 21, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Ghost (Kindersley, Saskatchewan) on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with the Very Rev.
