Obituary of Janet Marie Schellenberg

Our family circle has been broken; a link gone from our chain. Janet Marie Schellenberg (nee Demers), beloved wife of Don Schellenberg of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at the age of 50 years. Janet was born on November 21, 1954 in Windsor, ON. She was a graduate of St. Clair College in Windsor and was employed at various locations across the country, as a Systems Analyst, before becoming a fulltime homemaker. She met her husband Don at Simon Fraser University and they were married on July 10, 1987. Loving mother to two children, Kaitlin and Gregory, she became the heart and soul of the family. They moved to Edmonton in 1991 and later to Calgary in August 1993. In Calgary she built a large community of friends, through volunteer work and being involved as a Sparks leader, member of the Bridge Club and the Book Club Sisters. Besides her loving husband Don, Janet is survived by her daughter Kaitlin and son Gregory, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her father Lionel Demers of Tecumseh, ON; two sisters, Christine and David Reaume of Tecumseh, Karen and Mike Sniezek of Toronto, ON; three brothers, Barry and Dana Demers of West Bloomfield, MI, Tim and Sue Demers of Tecumseh, and Brian and Cindy Demers of Tecumseh; and eighteen nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her mother Jo Demers in 2003 and brother Duane Demers in 1991. She was a special aunt to her deceased brother Duane’s children, Monica and Laura. She also loved her special sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joy and Gary Bischoff and her long-time special friends, Brenda and Al.
