Obituary of Reyn Cheshire

James Reynolds (Reyn) Cheshire P.Eng., with his family at his side, passed away quietly at Foothills Medical Centre on Thursday, November 10, 2005. Reyn was born April 30, 1921 in Toronto, Ontario. He was a wonderful husband & father. Reyn is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ellen and daughters Joanne (Rob) Johnson, Janis and Jill. His sister-in-law, Patricia Boon & brother-in-law, Dr. Frank Coulter, as well as many nieces, nephews & cousins will also remember him fondly. His best friends, Hobbes, Lucy & Sadie, also survive him. His sister, Bernice Coulter and his cousin, Douglas Boon, predeceased him. Reyn proudly served as a Radar Mechanic, also known as a Radio Mechanic, in the Royal Canadian Air Force “Porcupine Squadron” during World War II, while stationed in England and Scotland. Those Mechanics such as Reyn, provided an indispensable service in defence of this country and one of which the Air Force significantly depended. Reyn was one of many Canadians involved in D-Day. During the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympic Games, Reyn was very proud to serve as a volunteer and truly enjoyed his experience. Reyn belonged to the Al Ahzar Shriner’s Temple – Tin Lizzy Corps and was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He loved to play golf, as well as, fish and curl. Reyn also loved to watch his favourite teams – The Calgary Flames & The Toronto Blue Jays. Reyn will be greatly missed by all who knew , respected and loved him.
