Obituary of Vivian Lavone Cudby

Vivian Lavone Cudby, beloved wife of Ernest Cudby of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the age of 80 years. She was born Vivian Lavone Shawver in Paris, Illinois, U.S.A. on September 8, 1925. Vivian grew up in Chicago and graduated from Lakewood High School in 1943 and the Chicago Comptometry School in 1944. She worked for the Northwestern Railroad before moving to Long Beach, CA in 1946 where she worked for the American Can Company, until her marriage in Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA to Ernest Cudby on May 20, 1950. Vivian and her husband moved to Edmonton, AB, where Ernest was stationed, working in the petroleum industry, before moving to Calgary 1952. Vivian raised three children in Calgary, where she had lived for over fifty-five years. She loved life and travel, and was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church for over fifty years, as well as member of the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, where she spent many years enjoying golf with her husband, family and friends. Vivian also enjoyed Club Bridge with her husband and friends on mixed bridge days and lady’s bridge days. She loved her family dearly, loved to cook wonderful food, and was a very emotional and caring person. She will be greatly missed by those who were close and loved her. Besides her loving husband Ernest, Vivian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Brian and Tina of Maple Ridge, BC; daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Gordon Hunter of Calgary, Laurie and Ron Hughes of Vulcan, AB; grandsons, Russell (Dale) of Victoria, BC, Simon and Mitchell Cudby of Maple Ridge, BC and step grandchildren, Dean (Tammy), Michelle, and Kyle Hughes all of Calgary. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, November 18, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Rod Sykes, Presider.
