Obituary of Ruby Caufield
Ruby Irene Caufield of Sylvan Lake passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on November 9, 2005 at the age of 90 years.
For the past two years she has resided at the Sylvan Lake Lodge. She was born in Lomond on October 14, 1915. Ruby is survived by two daughters Joyce Buchan (Don) of Calgary, Ruth Strand (Doug) of Carstairs and one son Harrison Caufield (Judy) of Sylvan Lake. She is the loving grandmother of ten grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Wayne Benson (Connie), one sister, Lorraine Weich (Walter) and one sister-in-law Maxine Benson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harrison Caufield Sr., her parents Elvin and Dolly Benson, sister-in-law Janice Benson, and granddaughter Carolyn Peevey. Ruby helped farm, raised her children and then at forty years old went back to University and received an education degree. She then taught school in Lomond and Calgary for over twenty years. She loved her “kids”. After retiring they traveled as much as possible in their mobile home. Even with her aches and pains she was so happy to be with her friends at the Sylvan Lake Lodge.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Monday, November 14, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.
