Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Poole

Jean Elizabeth (nee Hall) Poole of Calgary passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the age of 80 years. Jean was born on September 19, 1925 in Dawson Creek. Jean moved to Vancouver as a young adult, coming to Calgary in the late 1940’s. Jean worked as an accountant for McTavish and MacKay Construction for many years. She was an active member of the Parkdale United Church and Women’s Christian Fellowship. She was a volunteer grandmother for over ten years with the Grandparents Program at Ranchlands Community School. She was also an active Social Committee Member at her Condo Association. Jean will be remembered for her energy, enthusiasm, friendship, love, and devotion. Jean has been a guiding light to her family, and will be missed more than we can express. Jean is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Alan Norris of Calgary; grandchildren, Andrea Norris-Tompkins, Colin Norris, and Kirsten Norris of Calgary, and Cory and Jennifer Estrela of Toronto; as well as many close friends and extended family at the Parkdale United Church. She was predeceased by her husband Glenallen in 1988 and a son Jameson Laird in 1957. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, November 5, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev.
