Obituary of Art Davis

Arthur Davis passed away on November 1st 2005 with his loving family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Mary (nee Boake), his children, Marilynn (Jan Bevelander) Davis of Vancouver, Donna (Doug) Hagel of Beiseker, Tina (Dale) Becker of Three Hills, Jay (Lenore) Davis, Darcy (Nora) Davis, and Roy (Roxanne) Davis all of Acme. His grandchildren; Kristen (Paul Dawson) Bevelander, Melissa (Travis) Fahselt, Kurt Hagel, Raeanne (Cory) Habberfield, Brandi, Nadine, Shelly, and Brooke Becker, Skyler and Crystal Davis, Jarrett, Garrett, Cody, and Scarlett Davis, Hayley and Mason Davis. His great-grandchildren; Ryan, Graham, and Liam Bevelander, Sydney and Cassandra Fahselt, and Kale Habberfield. His sister Lucy Litz of Oregon. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents James (Day) and Pearl Davis, sister Elvira Jackson and brothers-in-law Lloyd Jackson, and Donald Litz. Dad was born on the farm west of Acme and grew up there. Following his graduation from Olds College in 1942, he started his own farm (ARDA Farms) a quarter mile down the road in 1947. He married Mary on November 3, 1948. It was there they raised their six children. Art enjoyed his farming years building a mixed farm and raising pure bred Angus cattle. Arda Farms was recognized by the Canadian Angus Association for fifty years of registering Aberdeen Angus cattle. Art was very active in the community and as a board member in the church. He played saxophone in the local band. Served as secretary of the UGG for many years, a local school trustee, scout leader and was active with his children and grandchildren in the local 4H. One of his favourite projects was helping to establish and maintain the Acme swimming pool. Art and Mary moved into Acme in 1982. In his later years he enjoyed bowling, farming, and spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral Services will be held at Acme United Church (413 Bennett Avenue, Acme, AB) on Monday, November 7, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ian Hunter, Presider.
