Obituary of Marilyn Anne McKinley

Marilyn Anne McKinley of Edmonton passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at the age of 50 years. Marilyn was raised in Winnipeg where she attended school and the University of Manitoba. After completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree, she earned a Bachelor of Journalism (Honours) at Carleton University, Ottawa. Her journalism career began at the Portage la Prairie Daily Graphic and continued at the Fort McMurray Today and Alberta Report. She was also an Associate Producer for CBC Radio in Calgary and then Edmonton. The focus of Marilyn’s career changed when she became a Public Affairs officer for the Government of Alberta. Most recently she held an Executive Assistant position within Sustainable Resource Development. Marilyn was committed to providing a loving home for her son Daniel who gave her great joy and in whom she took immense pride. She loved to run and participated in four half-marathons. She was an avid reader. She also spent much time outdoors where she marvelled at the natural world and landscapes. Her house was very important and puttering in the garden provided an outlet for her creativity. Marilyn will remain in our hearts as that special person that she was – truly genuine.
