Obituary of James Moore

James Moore beloved husband of fifty-two years of Mrs. Margaret Moore, of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the age of 81 years. Jim was born on March 25, 1924 in Lacombe. He left the family farm as a young man to work on neighbouring farms, in a lumber mill, in the oil patch and on the railway. He settled in Calgary in the early fifties where he met and married Margaret Westover on Valentines Day, February 14, 1953. Jim enjoyed working in his yard; planting his garden in the spring, tinkering with his car and any other gadget or appliance he thought need fixing or wasn’t designed the way he thought it should be. Jim’s biggest joy in life was his granddaughters, from playing baseball with them in the yard to crokinole and barrel of monkeys on the kitchen table as children and finally watching them with pride as they became successful young adults. Jim was a man of simple needs and a heart of gold. Besides his loving wife Margaret, Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Charlotte Moore of Calgary; two granddaughters, Meghan and Amanda. He is also survived by seven sisters, Lillian Harmon of Bentley, Barbara Otto of Lacombe, Kay Apponen, Gert Millar, Vena Mackie, LaVern Kapp, Jean Berezowski all of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his two sisters, Margaret Callahan and Dorothy Otto.
