Obituary of James Wesley Brown

James Wesley (Bill) Brown, beloved husband of Angeline Brown of Calgary passed away unexpectedly, however peacefully in Regina on October 16, 2005. Bill was born on January 27, 1925 in rural Saskatchewan near Quappelle. His early life was spent on the farm as one sibling of a rather large family. He was educated at Springbank School, a small one room school near Quappelle. Bill later served as part of Canada military effort during World War II. At the age of eighteen, he enlisted on June 9, 1943. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, antisubmarine patrol, stationed mainly on Vancouver Island. He was discharged September 17, 1945. On February 14, 1953 he married Angeline Goski. They lived and raised a family in Regina, Oxbow, Estevan, Calgary, Brooks, and Red Deer. Bill was employed by Schlumberger of Canada for over thirty-three years. During which time he made many life long friends. His greatest challenge faced and overcome was his ability to balance a busy work life with a valued home life. Some of his passions included the Montreal Canadians, camping, collecting antiques, and walking. He especially enjoyed the fine trails in Red Deer on which he could be seen for hours a day. Life’s greatest moment was being a Grandfather. He enjoyed taking and watching his grandchildren participate in numerous sporting events throughout Western Canada. After living in Red Deer for many years Bill and Angeline moved to Calgary so that they could be more involved in the lives of their younger grandchildren. Besides his loving wife, Bill is also remembered by three sons, two daughters-in-law, a daughter and a son-in-law; Jim (Deborah) Brown of Red Deer, Marshall Brown of La Crete, Candice (Ian Page) Brown of Calgary, and Russell (Barb) Brown of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Josh, Luc, Caleb, Maddie, Alex, Jack, and Matthew. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, October 21, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with Warren Wiebe.
