Obituary of Chester William Scutchings

On Saturday, October 15, 2005, Chester passed away in Calgary with his loving wife Eunice and his children Judy, Debbie and Ron by his side. Chester was born in Conrad, Montana on November 3, 1923 and spent his younger years in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He served with the RCAF as a navigator with the rank of Flight Lieutenant during W.W.II. He always had a great love for hockey (nicknamed “Scoop Scutchings”), curling as a skip, and vacationing in Arizona and Pigeon Lake. Ches spent his working years in the oil industry around Alberta and Saskatchewan, advancing quickly in both drilling and production. Ches is survived and loved by his wife Eunice; children Judy (Mel) Tiede of Calgary, Debbie (Gilles) Hall-Lavoie of Edmonton, AB, and Ron (Loretta) Scutchings of Calgary; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Lorraine (Gordie) Davidson of Red Deer, AB; and many nieces and nephews. Ches was predeceased by his parents Bill and Della Scutchings. “Fly with the angels, Dad. We love you forever.” A Celebration of Ches’s life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (7017 California Blvd. N.E.) on Monday, October 24, 2005 at 12:30 p.m., with Bishop David Bly officiating.
