Marjorie Watkin

Obituary of Marjorie Watkin

It is with great sadness that we mourn the sudden passing of Marjorie on Wednesday, October 19, 2005. She died peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital with her loving family by her side. Her family is at peace knowing she is reunited with her devoted husband of fifty-two years, Edward, who predeceased her in 1985. Marjorie will be dearly missed by her daughter Valeta (Dave Joyce), and her two grandsons Tony and Shane (Melanie). As children, both boys spent many happy summers with Nanny and Grandad at Pine Lake, and remained very close to Nanny in the years since. Melanie became Nanny’s best friend in her later years, and was always “My Granddaughter”. Shane and Melanie’s three year old son Max was the light of Nanny’s Life, and the three years she spent sharing Max’s love and joy brought her untold happiness. Also left to mourn her passing are her two nieces, Linda (Elmer) and Carol (Harry) and their families. Nanny always looked forward to her annual holiday with them. Throughout her life, Nanny carried herself with grace, charm, and class that were matched only by her sly humour and rapier wit. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells, (2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Monday, October 24, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Didsbury Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Marjorie would wish to say thank-you to the staff and residents of McKenzie Towne Retirement Residence, who became her companions during the past nine months and who took such good care of her. As well, the family would like to thank the Rockyview General Hospital Emergency staff, who ensured that her last moments were dignified and peaceful.
