Obituary of Phyllis Irene Check

Phyllis Irene Check (nee McKibbon) beloved wife of Russel Check, of Airdrie, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2005 after an extended fight with pneumonia at the age of 71 years. Phyllis was born on the McKibbon family farm in Rocanville, SK and lived there until the age of 10 years. The family then moved to Regina, SK where Phyllis completed her schooling and worked as a secretary. In 1955 Phyllis was married and subsequently raised four sons. She lived all over the world, moving from Regina to Pakistan, to New Orleans, LA, to Calgary, AB and finally to a farm outside Airdrie, AB. Phyllis was loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew her. Besides her loving husband Russel of fifty years, Phyllis is also survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Douglas and Elizabeth Check, of Woodstock, ON, Gordon Check and Cindy Parsons, of Halifax, NS, and Arthur Check of Calgary, AB; as well as five grandchildren, Jeremy, Karen, Steven, and Joanna, of Woodstock, ON, and Tobias of Halifax, NS. Phyllis was predeceased by her son Murray James Check and her brother Kenneth McKibbon. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’s Airdrie Funeral Home, (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie) on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. P. H. Burrill, Presider.
