Obituary of Ruth Annabel Bateman

Ruth Bateman, beloved wife of John (Bud) Bateman of Calgary, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving children and sister on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 after a defiant battle with colon cancer at the age of 79 years. Ruth was born in Toronto, ON in 1926, and moved to Belleville, ON with her husband in 1948, and then off to Calgary with her family in 1968. Ruth worked at Sears Chinook Centre for seventeen years where she developed many friendships. She enjoyed retirement with her husband and traveling with her sister. Her favourite times were spent in her home surrounded by her family and her dedicated companion her Labrador retriever “Charlie”. Ruth is survived by her two sons, Rob of Vancouver, BC, and Jim and Debra of Calgary; her daughter Sandra of Calgary; six grandchildren, Jesse, Josh, Chad, Shawn, Brett, Robin and Debra’s daughter Alex; and her sister Margaret Stampe of Vernon, BC. She was predeceased by her husband John (Bud) Bateman, and her brother Jack Raynor of Toronto, ON. A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. with her nephew the Rev.
