Obituary of Jean Claude Guertin

Claude Guertin of Strathmore, AB, passed away on October 6, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 82 years. Claude was born on June 21, 1923 in Montreal, Quebec. He was raised there until joining the R.C.A.F. and serving overseas. After the war, he married Eileen Shea on July 12, 1945. Claude then worked as an Insurance Agent for Metropolitan Life. He and Eileen came to Calgary in 1964, where he worked for Ted Brooks, Calgary Motor Products, and Lynn-Wood Chev-Olds. Following a successful career with Lynn-Wood, Claude retired and enjoyed golfing on the many courses in the Calgary area. He also enjoyed hockey, was a proud fan of the Montreal Canadiens, and was able to see the early days of the “original six”. Claude also loved Cadillacs, and watching classic movies, but most of all loved dancing with Eileen, and spending time with his family. Claude is missed by his daughter Claudia and son-in-law Glenn Doerksen; his son Ken and daughter-in-law Sally-Anne Guertin, all of Calgary. He is also missed by grandchildren, Julie and James Hiner, Mark and Karin Doerksen, and Mary and Michael Bond; great-grandchildren, Eric and Colin; and his special friend Marge Guetre. Claude was predeceased by his wife Eileen in 2000; his son Eric in 1951; and five sisters. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive N.E.) on Tuesday October 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Long Vu, Presider.
