Obituary of Archibald Lawrence Husby

Archie Husby, beloved husband of Phyllis Husby of Calgary formerly of Vulcan, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2005 at the age of 83 years. Archie was born on February 5, 1922 in Darmoody, SK. Following his grade twelve graduation he enlisted in the RCAF and served overseas until 1945. When he returned he enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan obtaining his B.A. and B.Ed, while in University Archie met Phyllis May King and they married in 1947. Archie began his teaching career in Southey, Saskatchewan, then moved to Alberta and taught in Tilley, Cremona, Vermilion and finally in Vulcan from which he retired in 1984. During his career Archie was very active with the A.T.A. serving on various committees and was District Representative for many years. He was a member of the Eastern Star Ferrodale Chapter #65 O.E.S and Vulcan Masonic Lodge. Archie enjoyed staying active in the Church Choir and Community Choir, he loved golf and was a die hard Saskatchewan Roughrider Fan. Besides his loving wife Phyllis; Archie is survived by his children and their spouses, Margo and Ken Scheelar, Patsy and Larry McNish, Aileen and Warren Smith, and Brian Husby and Joan Erikson; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law Betty Husby; and his special friends, Phyllis Sawchuk, and Chuck and Jean Bourque; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Archie was predeceased by his parents, and two brothers, Paul and Philip.
