Obituary of Major Kenneth Sanford Grills

Ken Grills beloved husband of Audrey Grills, of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the age of 93 years. Ken was born in 1911 in 3rd Concession of Thurlow Belleville, ON. He was commissioned with the Argyll Light Infantry in 1933, and served with Queen’s York Rangers R.C.R. He fought in WWII from 1944 to 1945 with the British Columbia Regiment (28th Canadian Armed Regiment) the Duke of Connaughts own Rifles. Ken was a Brigade Major 5 Arrow Division, and he administered the Emergency Fund for Britain from 1946 to 1948. Besides his loving and devoted wife Audrey; Ken is survived by his children and their spouses, Penelope Mathes, Cynthia and Eric Rowan, Deborah and Pieter Koster, Dana and Frances Grills, and Mary and Trevor Axworthy; eleven grandchildren, Michael and Stephen Mathes, Robin and Fran Rowan, Christopher and Tobie Koster, Caitlin, Madelaine, and James Grills, and Caitlyn and Wynn Axworthy. Ken was predeceased by his brothers, Jack and Eugene Grills. Funeral Services will be held at Bonavista Baptist Church (1507 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
