Obituary of Peter Joseph O’Hagan

Peter O’Hagan, beloved husband of Breda of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at the age of 76 years. Peter was the eldest of seven children born to Margaret and Michael in Newry, Ireland. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 starting his career with Johnston Walkers in Edmonton, AB. Peter moved to Calgary to become Manager of the Holt Renfrew stores in 1973, and then later worked for Henry Singers in Calgary until his retirement. Peter was a man of simple pleasures. His greatest joy was being surrounded by family members in Canada, the United States and in Ireland. Peter devoted his life and all of his love to his wife, children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who have been touched by his unconditional love. Peter is survived by his beloved wife Breda; his four children and their spouses, Hugh and Nancy McCaffery of Portland, OR, Dan and Iris McCaffery of Chicago, IL; Bernie and Jan McCaffery of Calgary, Lorraine and Charlach Mackintosh of Edmonton; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law Edmund and Bernadette O’Hagan; his sister Doris O’Hagan; his sister and brother-in-law Kathleen and Thomas McGiveren all of Newry Co. Down Ireland; as well as many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his three brothers, Maurice, Francis and Desy.
