Obituary of John Richard Matheson

John Richard (Rick) Matheson, born February 17, 1948, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the age of 57 years. Rick was predeceased by his father Dick, and will be deeply missed by wife Deborah; mother Margaret Matheson; brothers, Jordan and Robert (Dorene); and sister Helene (Ernie) Maynard; nephews, GR (Holly) Matheson and Stephen Maynard; nieces, Shawn (Jeff) Lynds and Sarah (Mark Campbell) Maynard, all of Nova Scotia; stepdaughter Tanya (Norbert) Ellenberger of Germany; stepson Craig (Rachelle) Norton of Fairview Alberta; grandsons, Anton Ellenberger and Kaden Norton; and numerous cousins. Rick, or “Cannon” as he was known to many, had a long career as a tax specialist, working with Revenue Canada (now CRA), NOVA, and Transcanada Pipelines. Rick will be remembered for his love of his Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, Woody and his “girls” Thelma and Louise (Maine Coon cats), travelling, cars – especially the Mustang and Thunderbird, and his love for his extended family. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. A second Memorial Service will be held at Brookfield United Church (Brookfield, NS) on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
