Obituary of Johanna Wansleeben
Johanna Wansleeben (nee van Raamsdonk) of Calgary passed away quietly on Monday, September 19, 2005 at the age of 87 years.
Johanna, or “Jo” or “Zus”, as she was lovingly known, was born in Nijmegen, Netherlands on August 31, 1918. She immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her husband John (Jan) and four children. Throughout her life, Johanna always had a pleasant and joyful outlook and took pleasure in being with family and friends. We will always remember her for her wonderful singing talent and the numerous sweaters she knitted for her family. Even though her husband passed away five years ago, Johanna maintained her spirits and took pleasure in seeing her family grow up.
Cherishing her memory and the impact of her life are her three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gerritt, John and Karin, and Fred and Chris; her daughter and son-in-law Willy and Ray Gannon; and daughter-in-law Kirsten; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Johanna is also survived by her sister Dina (Dien) in the Netherlands. She was predeceased by her husband John (Jan) in 2000; her father Pieter Johannes van Raamsdonk; her mother Antonia (Tannetje) Dulos; and six brothers.
