Obituary of Marjory Jean Gough

Marjory Jean Gough (nee Hill), beloved wife of Mr. Tom Gough of Calgary, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Marjory was a graduate of Western Canada High School. On May 20, 1950 she married her best friend and became helpmate to her husband, Tom. Together Marjory and Tom had one daughter, Lesley, and she became the proud grandmother of two boys, David and Patrick Heysel. Marjory retired from her career in academic administration at high school and university levels, and she focused her time on being the consummate volunteer who always had time to help others. A volunteer all her life, Marjory has served as President, Board of Governors, IODE Children’s Centre and as a Member of the Board of North York General Hospital, Toronto, ON. In IODE, a national women’s charitable organization, she held executive offices at all levels and was awarded two life memberships in recognition of her dedication. Always active in the community, Marjory was a member of the Board of the Calgary Handi-Bus Association and the Alumni Association of Western Canada High School. Marjory was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee medal for her community service in 2003. Marjory will also be remembered by the many lives she affected through her volunteering efforts. Besides her loving husband, Marjory is also survived by her daughter Lesley Heysel; and adored “Nana” of her grandchildren, David and Patrick Heysel, all of Calgary. She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Tom Hill; sister Agnes (Bert) Wilson; and brothers, Tom (Doris) Hill and James S. Hill. Memorial Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (1121 – 14 Avenue S.W.) on Friday, September 23, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Brian E. Pearson, Presider.
