Obituary
Obituary of Marlene Sharon Lindberg
Marlene Lindberg, beloved wife and best friend of Roy Lindberg, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at the age of 62. Roy and Marlene were married for over 39 wonderful years and lived in Calgary since 1972.
Marlene fought a successful four-year battle with breast cancer and paddled with the Sistership Dragon Boat Team across Canada. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour only one week ago and was tragically taken from us.
Marlene was born in Vancouver, BC on April 9, 1943 and moved to Medicine Hat, AB as a young girl. She went on to study nursing at the Medicine Hat School of Nursing and practiced at various institutions throughout Alberta. Prior to her marriage, her career took her to Alberque, New Mexico for a short period. Her last 21 years of nursing were at the Rockyview Hospital Recovery Room and provided her with very close friends and colleagues.
Marlene thrived on her bridge groups and was planning on teaching her grandsons to love the game. Her love of cooking and entertaining brought friends and loved ones together on many occasions. Vacations on Maui with her family and friends were special moments and will be fondly remembered. All those that had the fortune to encounter her will remember her as a gracious, colourful and vibrant woman.
Marlene is the loving grandmother of Elliott and Isaac Elm (11 and 9 years) of Sherwood Park, AB and Anna and Eva Lindberg (3 and 2 years) of Bellevue, WA, USA. Marlene is the precious mother of Tanis Lindberg of Sherwood Park, and Grant Lindberg of Bellevue. She is also survived and treasured by her brother Brent Dunn and his son Jordie of Sidney, BC. Her dear mother, Clara Barton of Medicine Hat, AB, also survives Marlene. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins will also dearly miss her. Marlene is predeceased by her father, Harold Winston Dunn in 1955.
A grateful family offers a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, doctors, and transport team at the Rockyview and Foothills Medical Centres. To the Rockyview Recovery Room staff, you can never know the peace and serenity given to us by your presence.
