Obituary of Janetta Murray Warnock Mustard

MUSTARD – Janetta Murray (nee Warnock) 1914 – 2005 Janetta Murray Warnock Mustard of Calgary passed away with grace and dignity of heart complications on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Janetta lived with a fierce passion, igniting a passion for life in others. A pianist from the time she was fives year old, Janetta’s life was devoted to music. She taught music to children and adults, was a professional instructor at Ryerson University in Toronto, and played piano to amazed audiences right up to her death. Widowed at an early age, Janetta raised two children alone and later was a significant comfort and influence in the lives of her four motherless grandchildren. She was born on March 11, 1914 in Toronto where she completed school with honours and studied music. Janetta made her life and career in Sudbury, ON and moved through Toronto, ON, Calgary and Victoria, BC to be near her grandchildren. She traveled extensively throughout her life. Her final years in Calgary were spent volunteering, teaching piano to colleagues, spending time with friends and grandchildren, and often cruising on her electric scooter. She lived on her own, providing for herself and taking care of herself, until her death. Janetta touched the lives of everyone she met. She was well loved by all. Janetta is remembered by her four grandchildren, Michelle, Sean, and Chantelle McCann and Craig Mustard; her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Kathy Mustard; her son-in-law and friend Sean T. McCann; her sisters Irene Warnock and Edith Henderson; and her close friends, Mabel Templeman, Ida King, and Joan Garland. Janetta was predeceased by her husband Douglas T.
