Obituary of Herman Prefontaine

Herman Prefontaine of Calgary passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at the age of 89 years. Our father was always there for his family and always took a very active part in his childrens lives. Dad spent many years farming in St. Francois Xavier, MB while being employed with Air Canada. In later years he was transferred to Montreal where he worked a total of 32 years in the airline industry. Upon his retirement he relocated to Calgary where he spent many summer days on the golf course and winter months bowling in different leagues. Herman will be remembered by his six children, Gilles, Doreen, Camille, Barb, Marcel and Louise from Calgary; Rochelle of White Rock BC; Claude of Montreal, QC; Ilene and Russell of Winnipeg, MB; his sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses, Charlie and Armance, Conrad and Dorothy, Victor and Dorothy, Real and Celine; Bernice and Gerry, Alice, Lucille, Therese, Rosa, and Jenny; and his close friend Annette deChamplain. Herman was predeceased by Yvonne Prefontaine on November 6, 1941 and Agnes Prefontaine on October 23, 1987; his father, Charles in August 1944; his mother, Marie-Anne in April 1982; his brothers, Laurier in April 1919 and Rene in September 1975; his sister Maria in 1992; and his son-in-law Roland in 2001. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive N.W.) on Monday, September 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Corcoran officiating.
