Obituary of Louise E. Gilbert

The family of Louise E. (Betty Lou) Gilbert regretfully announces her passing on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at the age of 90 years. Betty Lou was born on June 5, 1915 in Butte, Montana and grew up in Montana and Utah. In 1942, she met and married Newt Gilbert in Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved to Canada in 1945 and lived in the Calgary, Rosebud and Drumheller areas before moving to Cochrane in 1956. Betty Lou taught at the Cochrane High School from 1956 to 1974, when she retired from the position of Principal. She also served as School Trustee for the area for three terms as well as being active in many community organizations and participating in many projects. Betty Lou is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Sue; her granddaughter Cindy; grandson Scott (Diana); and great-granddaughter, Linde. She was predeceased by her parents Maude Millikin in 1947 and Bruce Millikin in 1961; and her husband Newt in 1976. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Monday, September 19, 2005 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Cochrane Alliance Church (902 Glenbow Drive, Cochrane) on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at the Cochrane Cemetery (101 Ranche House Road, Cochrane).
