Obituary of Albert Harris

Albert Harris passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the age of 90 years. Al was born in Hanna, AB and grew up in Medicine Hat where he graduated from High School and began a forty-five year career with Maple Leaf Mills. He and his family were transferred to Calgary in 1953 where he ultimately became the company’s Traffic Manager. He was a founding member of the Calgary Transportation Club in 1965 and an active member of the Canadian Industrial Traffic League. His efforts were rewarded when he was named Southern Alberta Transportation Personality of the Year in his retirement year, 1980. Al enjoyed gardening in his retirement and many trips to Hawaii. He was long-time member of Wild Rose United Church and a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Aylean. Also surviving are daughters, Laraine (John) McIntyre and Peggy Harris; grandchildren, Doug McIntyre and Karen McIntyre; sister Winnie Diehl of Medicine Hat, and a number of nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his brothers James, John and David. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, September 19, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev.
