Obituary of Isolin Ella Weiffenbach

Isolin Ella Weiffenbach of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at the age of 80 years after a long and hard battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Armin, daughter Miranda (Mark) Johns, grandson David (Rachel) Johns all of Calgary, son Andrew and grandson Hunter, both of the state of Washington, USA. She will also be dearly missed by many relatives and friends in Canada, the United States, and her native Jamaica. Lyn was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. She moved to London, England at age twenty-five where she met her future husband. Both immigrated to Canada in 1954 where they married in Hamilton, Ontario. They moved to Calgary in 1955 and have resided here ever since. Lyn was always very cheerful and full of energy. Outdoor pursuits ranked high in her life style. She was a long time member of the Seniors Outdoor Club of Calgary and made many friends. Lyn also volunteered for many years at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and survived her own severe cancer operation twenty-one years ago. Apart from hiking and skiing, Lyn also loved to square dance. She was a member in the Roses’n Thorns as well as the Prairie Winds square dance clubs. She participated in the opening ceremonies of the 1988 Winter Olympics and helped with the sewing of the many costumes for the dancers this function required. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Sunday, September 18, 2005 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. David’s United Church (3303 Capitol Hill Crescent N.W.) on Monday, September 19, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev.
