Sture Svanborg

Obituary of Sture Knut Svanborg

Stu Svanborg, beloved husband of Evelyn Svanborg of Calgary, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2005 at the age of 94 years. Stu was born on September 18, 1910 in Visby, Gotland, Sweden. As a young man he left his homeland to pursue “the land of opportunity.” Stu loved Canada and all it had to offer. He made his home in Edmonton, and moved to Calgary in 1969 with his wife and daughter and remained here until his passing. He worked at many different jobs throughout his life, retiring from Trimac Transportation in 1982, where he worked in the mail room. Every one who knew Stu loved him and when you asked him how he was doing he always had the same response, “I can’t complain” and he never did. He will be remembered for the simple way in which he lived his life, believing that if you put in a good days work then you earned a good meal (hopefully fish). Stu was blessed with good health in his long life, and took good care of himself knowing that he was God’s creation. He found joy in all nature, especially working in his garden and his love of bees and dogs. He was always content with all he did and all he had. Thank you for being such a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa. Dad, just remember this “I got you, I got you.” Love Karen. John 11:25-26 He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Evelyn; his daughter and son-in-law Karen and Rob; his grandchildren, Laina and Anders; his step grandchildren, Bruce, Kathleen, Heather, Helen, and Daniel; his sister-in-law Mia; his nephew Per (Agneta); his niece Ulla (Harald) and their children, all of Gotland, Sweden. Stu was predeceased by his brother Yngve. At Stu’s request no Funeral Service will be held. Forward condolences and special memories you have of Stu through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
