Obituary of Lewis Austin McKeown
Lewis (Lew) Austin McKeown passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, just shy of his 89th birthday.
Lew was born in Quebec City, QC in 1916, the first son of Edgar and Theresa McKeown. He was a graduate of both Loyola University and the University of Montreal. Lew was engaged as a Chemical Engineer for over forty years in the pulp and paper industry and was based primarily in Canada and the United States, but his work also included assignments in Ireland and Spain. Lew was an active inventor and patented many solutions for the industry. His great ambitions in life were to foster a loving family, be successful in his career, and provide the best opportunities for his children. He accomplished these with his usual flair. Lew enjoyed playing the piano and was a very religious person.
Lew was predeceased by his loving wife Marjorie, in 1983. As he used to say, “no one loved a woman like I loved her”. He is survived by his children, Cory, Cynthia and Peter, and their spouses Bob and Leanne. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Cameron, Kelly, Kit, Tate, Rebecca, Jason and Sean, and his nieces and nephews, Barbara Sue, Debbie, Janet ,Terry and John.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church (711 – 37th Street N.W.) on Monday, September 12, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Alfredo Pereira, Presider. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery, St. Joseph’s Section. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
