Obituary of Andrew Turner Gibson
Andrew (Andy) Turner Gibson of Calgary passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the age of 63 years.
Andy was born on December 29, 1941 in Edinburgh, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1959. He originally came to Edmonton, AB where he resided for a number of years before moving to Calgary and then to Bragg Creek in 1995, a place he truly loved. Andy’s varied working career was spent mostly in the oil and gas industry as a Landman and an active member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landman. He also tried his hand as a Liquor Representative, Bar Owner, Professional Sports Team Promoter and an aide to then Olympic Mayor, Ralph Klein. Andy loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was actively involved in the rugby scene as a member of the Calgary Hornets, an avid football fan and member of the Calgary Grey Cup Committee. He was also an active participant of the Calgary Stampede and served as a member of the Downtown Attractions Committee for over twenty-five years. Andy loved to ride horses, sail boats, scuba dive, play guitar, golf, and travel, making friends wherever he went. He could always be counted on for a joke or a story and he loved to entertain a crowd.
Andy will be very sadly missed by his partner, companion and best friend, Sandy Drinnan; and his children, Rayanne (Ted) LaBrosse, A.J. (Denean) Gibson, Shona (John) Foster; grandchildren, Turner, Brooklyn, Delainey, and Meredith; brother Ian (Gail) Gibson; immediate family Faye Drinnan, Dave and Michelle Drinnan, Pat and Doreen Drinnan, and Lynsey Thomson.
