Obituary of Clara Rosina Steele

Clara Rosina Steele passed away in Calgary on Friday, August 26, 2005 at the age of 88 years. Clara was born on December 14, 1916 in Dinsmore, SK. She married Alex Steele on September 17, 1937 and they moved to Winnipeg, MB in 1941 then back to Dinsmore in 1951. From 1962 to 1978 they lived in Calgary, where Clara worked for Chesney’s Hardware and will be remembered for her skills and advice in renovations, plumbing and heating. Clara and Alex retired to Rosetown, SK and enjoyed their driving trips to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Clara was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to play the piano and sing and stayed active through her daily swims. As well, Clara was an avid bridge player. Clara is remembered by her three daughters and a son-in-law, Lornalea and Richard McDonald of Parksville, BC, Sandra Oancia of Medicine Hat, AB, and Mary Jones of Airdrie, AB; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Joan Ralph of Ottawa, ON; and brother-in-law Don Steele and his wife Stefie of Medicine Hat, AB. Clara was predeceased by her husband Alex in June of 1997; four brothers; and a sister. A Graveside Service will be held in Dinsmore, SK in the spring of 2006.
