Obituary of Marjorie Herron

Marjorie (Marj) Herron (nee Allen) of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at the age of 87 years. Born in Calgary September 12, 1917, Marjorie Herron was an elegant, beautiful woman who came equipped with energy, independence and a great sense of humour. She was an excellent horsewoman, oil company stenographer, astute insurance company secretary, assistant radio show producer, and owner of a woman’s fine dress shop. Marj married Bill Herron on March 13, 1980. She was the calmness and great love of his life. They travelled extensively, entertained, and lived life to the fullest. After Bill’s death in 1989, Marj lived quietly in their beautiful home in Kelvin Grove. Over the next ten years she worked patiently to have a special project completed. She commissioned a book on Alberta history, the early days of the oil business in Calgary and the Western way of life. The book was titled “Branded by the Wind”. What a befitting closing chapter to Marj’s life that this coincides with Alberta’s Centennial celebration.
