Obituary of Vera Stearns

Vera Agnes Stearns of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Vera was born on May 13, 1914 in Langdon, AB. She married Milo Stearns on April 16, 1941 and lived on a farm in the Acme district. In 1962, they moved to Calgary where Vera began the Thorncliffe Day Nursery, which she operated for seventeen years until her retirement in 1979. Vera was a Charter Member of the Thorncliffe Greenview Seniors. She thoroughly enjoyed her flowers and garden. Vera is survived by two daughters, Lois Stearns and Judy Stearns, both of Calgary, and a son and daughter-in-law, Les and Donna Stearns of Rimbey, AB; six granddaughters; Karen, Rhonda, Stephanie, Julie, Heather and Kari; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Dale (Joyce) Christenson of Dawson Creek, BC; four sisters, Thelma Shultz of Didsbury, AB, Olive (Stuart) Hall of Cranbrook, BC; Eva Mc Fadden of Calgary, Ruby (Reg) Warnock of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband Milo Stearns in October, 2000, infant brother Vernon, brother Leo and sister Helen. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, August 22, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
