Obituary of Joseph Shortneck
Has been called home by our creator on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Canmore Hospital in Alberta.
Joe will be sadly missed by his loving children Marie (Sandy), Darrol (Ina) David (Valerie) Garret (Victoria), one step-son John Wesley (Helen), adopted son Jackson (Brenda) Wesley, adopted grandson Clifford Jr., sisters Emily, Annette, Mary, Rose; one brother Dana all from Hobbema, AB; one adopted sister MaryJane Beaver; cousin Florence (Johnny), Peggy (Bill); one brother-in-law Charlie (Karen) A.; and other numerous nephews, nieces, and thirty-nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren. Joe loved traveling around places such as Pow-wows, round dances, sundances, he is a respected elder in both the area of Hobemma, Morley, Bighorn Reserves. Joe loves sports, like Hockey, Rodeo and Joining in the Motion Picture called Across the Great Divide. Joe was predeceased by his loving wife Marjorie Abraham Shortneck in 1998, one brother Philip Firingstone in 2004; sister Sheila Beaver in 1997; father Baptiste Shortneck in 1980; mother in 1924; adopted mother Sophie Crane; two sons Nowell in 1957 and Alvin; daughter Evelyn Abraham in 1986; one grandson Michael Shortneck; great-great-grandchild Henrick. Wake Service will be held at the residence of Darrol and Ina Shortneck’s (Morley, AB) on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. and on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. at the residence of John and Helen Wesley’s (Big Horn, AB). Funeral Services will be held at Big Horn Reserve (Big Horn, AB) on Friday, August 19, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at Big Horn Cemetery (Big Horn, AB).
